Sales & Marketing

Structured sales, certification and price discovery.

Emerald Sales Model

Auctions & Tenders

Sealed-bid auctions and tenders are an established sales mechanism for rough emeralds, providing structured price discovery across different quality categories and buyer groups.

How the Model Works

1. Sorting & Grading

Rough emeralds are classified into parcels according to quality characteristics such as size, colour and clarity.

2. Customer Viewings

Qualified buyers inspect selected parcels through private, in-person viewings.

3. Sealed-Bid Auction / Tender

Buyers submit confidential bids through an online auction platform.

4. Price Discovery

Competitive bidding establishes realised prices for individual parcels and quality categories.

5. Repeat Market Access

Regular auctions provide an established route for producers to access international cutting, trading and jewellery markets.

Value Drivers

Pricing & Premium

Emerald Value Stack

Value Stack Structure

Color, Clarity, Size, Cut, Origin, Certificate

The price of an emerald is primarily built on its "value stack," where color dominates. The most prized stones exhibit a vivid, saturated green hue.

Clarity follows closely, with eye-clean stones commanding a premium. Size and cut further drive rarity, while Origin (like Colombia or Zambia) adds brand-like recognition.

Emerald Disclosure

Treatment & Disclosure

None / Minor / Moderate / Significant Enhancement

Almost all emeralds contain surface-reaching fractures. Disclosure of the degree of enhancement is a crucial determinant of value.

Stones with no or minor oil command significant premiums. Full transparency in disclosure is essential to maintain consumer trust and compliance with international gem-trade ethics.

Gem Labs

Lab Certification

GUILD, SSEF, Gübelin, GIA, AGL

Gemological laboratories set global standards. Their reports specify geographic origin and treatment level, defining the gem's position within international price bands.

For investors, lab credibility functions as a financial instrument, underpinning pricing transparency and liquidity in the high-end gemstone market.
